ON HOW TO USE MOLD A BAIT
Its pretty simple to
make up Mold A Bait fishing bait as you need it.
For an outing or weekend
of fishing you can usually make up enough for the entire trip with only
a ¼ cup of the powder to ½ cup or less of pure water.
Keeping in mind that fish are extremely sensitive to smells, wash your
hands well with fragrance free soap when you handle any bait you fish
with. Some people even wear rubber gloves to prevent smell transfer.
I like to use distilled water,
because it is the most pure water you can get. We drink and cook with
distilled water, so we have it available all the time, but it is readily
available in grocery stores and the bigger box stores.
Put ¼ cup of Mold
A Bait in a microwave safe container. A glass measuring cup works
well for this.
Add ½ cup or less of pure water and stir in well.
Let set for a minute and
then microwave for 30 seconds on high, take out and stir, then microwave
again for 30 seconds on high.
Stir it up again and pour
it into your molds. Pour the rest you might have left into a clean plastic
container you can seal like an empty butter dish with a lid, or pour
into our loaf molds. If you are going to add color to your mix, do this
before pouring into your molds.
Wait for an hour or so for
it to cool to room temperature and gel into a rubber like state and
peal out of the molds. It is ready to put on a hook and fish with. You
can speed up the cooling process by putting it in the refrigerator if
you want to.
Store prepared Mold A Bait
in a refrigerator or in a cooler to keep it from spoiling or turning
back into a liquid if it is hot outside. It will keep for about a week
if refrigerated. You can store it in the freezer a lot longer.
You can re-melt Mold A Bait
in the microwave over and over again to pour into different molds. You
can also add our coloring to it to get different lure affects, and can
also mold hooks and other items into it.
You can also set molded
pieces out to dry and they will form a hard plastic type of piece you
can make lures from too. Even if they get hard and dry, they are still
biodegradable.
If you use the loaf molds,
you can cut up pieces to put on a hook as you wish. When fishing for
catfish I like to put the blood bait on my hooks in small pieces and
load the hooks with it. A little movement action slowly bringing in
the bait across the bottom will attract the fish and they will sniff
it out pretty quick from there.
